When most people think of boudoir, they imagine lace, lipstick, and luxury. And yes… it’s all of that. But sometimes, it’s so much more. For one of our incredible clients, this session wasn’t just about sexy photos. It was a declaration of strength in the middle of her toughest fight. Stage 3C Metastatic Melanoma.
She had admired our work for years and saw a chance to win a Mother’s Day giveaway. All she had to do was submit her “why.” And hers was powerful: “To love my own body through fighting cancer.”
But as the day of her shoot approached, nerves crept in.
“The morning of the session I almost canceled,” she admitted. “When I pulled up to the studio I was literally shaking.”
And that? That’s so normal. So many women walk through our doors unsure. Worried they’re not “ready,” not photogenic enough, not feeling themselves. But once she stepped into the studio, something changed.
“I was surprised by Robin and Mac’s willingness to be such fangirls for every client that walks in, including myself!”
Her nervous shaking turned into laughter and even tears. Tears of release, of empowerment, of finally seeing herself not as just a patient, but as a powerful, radiant woman.
“Robin showed me a photo she had just taken, and I cried. I was at war with my own body. And to see myself in that moment felt so emotional and empowering.”
One of the most symbolic moments of the shoot came when she put on black boxing gloves and a flowing black and white robe.
“Since the color for melanoma awareness is black, I wanted those photos to tell part of my story.”
And they did. Those images told the story of a woman who refuses to give up. A woman who still sees her beauty in the middle of battle. A woman who chose herself.
“The session made me feel powerful and confident. I was able to take a day to not focus on trying to beat cancer and all the thoughts that go with it. I was able to breathe and relax.”
That’s the beauty of boudoir. It’s not just about the photos. It’s about how you feel when you leave. Confident. Empowered. Seen.
“Every woman should do this. We get caught up in careers, being moms, wives… we lose who we are. This brought me back into perspective.”
So if you’re thinking about booking a boudoir session, but nerves are holding you back… take her advice:
“JUST BOOK IT! You’ll feel like you’re being accompanied by longtime friends! Because that’s exactly how it felt.”
Her words describe the session in three unforgettable words:
Strength. Beauty. Fighter.
She did this for herself, and yes… for her husband, her biggest fan. But most of all, she did it as a reminder that she is so much more than what she’s going through.
“These photos remind me how hard I’ve fought during this almost two-year cancer journey. And to never give up.”
Would she do it again?
“I ABSOLUTELY PLAN ON IT!”
And we’ll be ready for her. Fangirls, cameras, and all.
Here are a few of the photos she felt comfortable sharing!
